hi, i'm sarah northcott and i recently did a small scale study with katerina hilari looking at something called solution focused brieftherapy for people who have aphasia so not everyone knows what solution focused brief therapy is its approach to helping people build change in their lives so it's looking at what's already going well and building on that and helping notice positive things that are changing, helping identify small, meaningful goals intheir everyday life. we recruited 5 people who had aphasia for our small scale project and they did some assessments before and after
and we got some lovely results. people improved in terms of how positive andhappy they felt and also how confident they felt intalking - so they might feel a little bit more confident to order a cup of coffee in acafe or to talk to strangers in a shop so yes at the moment we've finished thatsmall scale project and now we're looking to try andget funding do a slightly larger scale project exploring the same therapy approach.
